About Joanna
Described as the "equivalent of a firework on New Year’s Eve," Joanna is an internationally acclaimed belly dancer, belly dance instructor, and professional entertainer based in Melbourne, Australia. Known for her vibrant stage presence, cultural authenticity, and high-energy performances, she has become one of the most sought-after choices for those looking to hire a belly dancer in Melbourne for weddings, corporate events, festivals, private functions, cultural celebrations, and special occasions.
Raised within Melbourne's Hellenic community and surrounded by the rich traditions of Greek belly dance (tsifteteli), Joanna spent more than 25 years immersed in the performing arts before discovering her true calling in belly dance. Since then, her passion has taken her to stages throughout Europe and Australia, where she captivates audiences with her artistry, technical excellence, and commanding presence.
Today, Joanna is a proud and active member of Australia's belly dance community, performing at festivals, cultural events, community celebrations, corporate functions, and private events nationwide. Her career reached new heights in 2025 when she headlined Electric Oasis at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, appeared on the AFLW Jumbotron during Pride Round, and toured nationally alongside Eurovision star Sarbel, Andreas ("Come to Dubai" Habibi), and acclaimed Greek vocalist Alexandra Aura.
Beyond performing, Joanna is dedicated to sharing the art, history, and culture of SWANAH (South West Asian and North African) dance. She serves as the resident Belly Dance and SWANAH Dance instructor at the renowned Maison Burlesque and Maison Burlesque Online, teaching students across Australia and around the world.
